Eldridge Park
Eldridge Park is located at 2211 49th Street just north of “U” Street. The City has owned this property since 1999, but it hasn’t been touched until the summer 2007. In an effort to investigate the site for wetland and stream buffers, a mower opened up the expansive field, hidden for years under blackberries. Currently the land is undergoing survey and analysis to assess the impacts of allowable uses.

Due to the nature of the purchase agreement, the use must be low impact; therefore, no buildings, play structures, or sports fields. Mitigation and restoration of the riparian areas are on the agenda. It is the hopes of the parks department, that this site could be connected to the adjacent property to the South-West, known as Campen Creek Park, with a board walk system over the lower wetlands and a bridge spanning Campen Creek. Public meetings regarding the future of this park will come soon.
